Wow, what a heartfelt sharing of grief, anger, despair, and hope. I can’t begin to imagine the highly personal and intense grief that you carried and I am sure still carry today. You spoke to my heart as a pastor and a friend who is also struggling to understand where we are as a church and nation, how we got there, and how we can bring a message of love, grace, hope, and peace to a church that all too often doesn’t want to listen. Thank you for your heartfelt reminder that we are not alone.
Sara’s story reminded me of my dad’s last days in hospice. The love that he was given was in a word overwhelming. Even after he died, the staff at his memory care kept coming in to say goodbye and to share their favorite George stories with us. The hospice nurse was absolutely blown away by this outpouring of love. She has never experienced such love and she had been in the hospice care program for over a decade.
