Hi Readers,

As I write this, we are awaiting a potential severe spring storm in Minneapolis. We got this news right after my husband put out the deck furniture cushions, so we have impeccable timing, as usual.

There’s an electricity in the air with an impending storm, as well as the barometric pressure changes that give so many of us headaches. I’m praying for safety, especially for those whose living space is especially vulnerable to severe weather, and those whose jobs require them to put themselves in danger to protect others.

I also write this grateful for the excitement in the air in these post-Easter Bible texts, that I can’t help but be swept up in. Even as we are hobbling toward the end of the school year with both of my boys, trying as hard as we can to keep organized, healthy, and on top of things - I’m encouraged by the reminder in these texts that: Jesus is Risen! He is Risen Indeed, Alleluia!

In today’s readings Jesus reminds us that indeed: he has been the persecuted, crucified one. He has come through great danger and disdain of the world. But he will not submit to danger, fear, and earthly power. No. He is going fishing.

Let’s get to the texts!
