Hi Readers,
We’ve had a rollercoaster week around here, with my youngest son just now finally recovering from a respiratory illness and pneumonia that was initially resistant to antibiotics. I am beyond grateful to report that he’s actually back on the basketball court today, and at the same time it feels like my own body and mind are demanding that I finally get some rest!
(Here’s hoping).
(Or wait, I just watched the debate. I will not be sleeping again until further notice.)
I typically write these News with Nuance newsletters the day before sending them to you, but I realized that would mean I’d be writing it prior to Thursday night’s Presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. While this current state of exhaustion might mean the last thing I want to do is dive deep into the current cynical and depraved heart of American politics, I do feel a responsibility to share with you in this newsletter my perspective from the debate, particularly where it touches on Christian Nationalism. So as follows is a SPECIAL EDITION of News with Nuance. I won’t be doing my typical deep dive into all the stories of the past few weeks, but I will share below a few quick links I think you should check out. Then - we’ll devote the section on Christian Nationalism almost entirely to the debate, which I’m planning to write live as I watch it.
I’ll also add at the bottom some of my favorite Substack reads, too.
Here we go!
